With more than 15 years of continuous development and expertise, the Blue Box helped to create the success that Autologic enjoys today and remains part of Autologic's  device portfolio.   While the Blue Box is still in use, we will provide our customers with a continued level of support from our technicians, guiding users to a resolution and ensuring that technical updates are available via the website. 

The Blue Box was launched 10 years ago, so much of the technology in the box, including processors, is now obsolete. How many people are still using technology from a decade ago? We moved to a Windows platform to ensure that the hardware is compatible with modern software, and is future-proofed for another technical iteration. 

Given that we have moved to cloud based technology, which has greater scalability, it is inevitable that the Blue Box will not have the functionality, capabilities and features of the current devices, so it will gradually lose its ability to function at optimum levels. For this reason, we no longer market this tool, and anticipate that users will naturally upgrade to our revolutionary, integrated Assist solution (which is four times faster than the legacy tool) over the coming months.

We haven’t changed our principle provisions; rather, we’ve followed the change of the needs of a generation, one that demands fast access to information via rapid internet connectivity. Therefore, we are developing devices and software that meet today’s needs. While it remains a reliable workhorse for our customers, the industry is evolving at a rapid pace. With advancements in technology, it is anticipated that the AssistPlus will become the device of choice for independent repair shops across the world.

Continued Support for Autologic Blue Box

In April 2015 we made a very conscious decision to stop sales of our ‘Blue Box’ diagnostics tool to new customers. We felt it was right that we took every possible step to ensure customers would not buy the Blue Box just as we were about to start selling our next generation AssistPlus devices and all the benefits the new technology will afford.

Our ultimate goal is to enable ALL of our customers to benefit from AssistPlus and as such we shall be incentivizing our customers to upgrade to AssistPlus with exclusive loyalty promotions.

However, in the past few days, it appears that our decision to stop selling the Blue Box, has led some customers to conclude incorrectly that we are discontinuing support for the Blue Box.

What Blue Box customers need to know:

Neither the withdrawal from sale of the Blue Box, nor the launch of Assist and AssistPlus changes – in any way – the support you will receive as a Blue Box owner, provided you have a valid support agreement in place for each tool you own.

  1. You will continue to receive new make and model software updates as and when they become available. From a diagnostics capability perspective, Blue Box and AssistPlus are built from the same core technology, so it is easy for us to update both device types at the same time.
  2. We will continue to update the Blue Box device software should we detect or be told about software issues, bugs and so on.
  3. You will continue to be helped as normal when you call our renamed ‘Assist’ service centres for help.
  4. We will continue to repair or replace your Blue Box hardware if you have a problem with an existing device and it is inside its warranty.
  5. You do not have to hand-in your Blue Box before you can buy AssistPlus. But those customers that do trade in their old boxes will get the best prices on AssistPlus. Please refer to the separate Q&A on upgrading to Assist for further 

From a Blue Box support perspective, nothing has changed.

We hope that this communication addresses any concerns you may have about Blue Box.

The Blue Box device has been the cornerstone of our success for more than ten years. While all our investments in innovation will be going into AssistPlus in the future, please be assured: Blue Box support is not going away any time soon.
